Bio
Melissa Donovan
Melissa Donovan is a writer and web content specialist.
Born and raised in the suburbs north of San Francisco, Melissa inherited a love of literature from her mom, who taught her to read by age four.
At thirteen, Melissa started penning poetry and song lyrics. Shortly thereafter, journaling became a daily habit, and a writer was born.
Melissa earned a BA in English with a concentration in creative writing from Sonoma State University. Since then, she has worked as a technical writer, business writer, blogger, copywriter, and article writer. As an internet enthusiast, Melissa is also proficient in web design and has studied it both inside and outside of academia.
In 2007, Melissa launched her career as a freelance copywriter. This led to the establishment of Scribizzy, a small business that provides web content services for other small businesses. Scribizzy also features a blog with tips for doing business online.
At her website Writing Forward, Melissa provides services for writers with a focus on creative writing. Her writing services include proofreading, editing, and professional critiques. Melissa also works as a writing coach and helps other writers improve their writing and reach their writing goals. Through Writing Forward Melissa shares her creative writing tips, promotes better writing, and acts as an advocate for writers.
Other Interests
Blogging has become one of Melissa’s passions, along with fiction and poetry. In 2008, as a NaNoWriMo participant, Melissa wrote her first novel. The working title is Wolves at the Door. Not coincidentally, Melissa is especially interested in using her writing skills as an advocate for animal welfare. Melissa is an active supporter of the No Kill movement, which seeks to end the practice of killing homeless animals in shelters. If you need a writer for an animal welfare project, Melissa would love to work with you!
